It all started about 13 years ago. I was the youth minister at our church and it was just really cool for youth groups to have a unique name! Back then, there was a pretty popular video game called Tetris. A lot of students in the group were playing it and many of them were always asking me to come over and play the game with them. I had been thinking about trying to use the name "Tetris" to use as our group name. I played around for a few days with different things - and then one Sunday morning, about an hour before Sunday school it came to me! I could spell "Tetris" T-E-T-R-A-S! It would still sound like the game but be totally different! The association between the game and our group would be enough to make it unique and special! 

Our "TETRAS" would stand for; T-eens E-nergized T-hrough R-lationship A-nd S-ervice! Not only would it be a cool, identifiable "name" but also have a dynamic meaning! The overall meaning of the phrase was to tell the world that those in the group found their strength,energy and purpose throught a relationship with Jesus Christ and service to Him and others.

The name evolved into a teaching tool for the group itself. I began to write Bible studies to explain what each word in the acronym meant, or, should mean to the teen who became a part of the group. From there we hired a professional artist to design a logo. They broght the "vision" of TETRAS to an amazing visual. Every color and it's placement; every word, and every image in the logo revealed the goal of the group!

Finally, TETRAS became a T-shirt and a book. When the T-shirts were printed and by the time the book was published Tetris the video game had dropped off the radar and other games pushed it from popularity. However, Tetris is back - and, so is TETRAS! Since the video game is revised and again popular there is an opportunity for the TETRAS T and book to help teens aggressively share their faith in Christ and change their world!

The T-shirt is not just a cool "T" to wear to youth group, it is an actual effective witness tool. If a few teens wear the "T" and invite some unsaved friends over for pizza, they can use the shirt to share their faith in Christ!
